Beau Charles

Last weekend was kid -filled for us! Saturday we attended Genevieve’s baptism and Sunday we visited our friends Andy and Shawn and their son Beau Charles, shown above. He is adorable!
Truly this little guy is cute, and he must know it as he had no problem posing for the camera and didn’t even mind when I pulled out the flash and umbrella. Since I wasn’t sure how he’d react, I started with just natural light and my favorite lens, the 70-200 f/2.8. (Love being able to fire off quick shots without really worrying about light levels, or having to set very high ISOs) After I had a few shots I was reasonably pleased with, I thought I’d see how Beau reacted to the flash. I needn’t have worried – he loved it, and gave me all kinds of smiles, and looks to work with, including a little drool and even sticking his tongue out at me once or twice.
All of the external flash work was just one flash on a stand with a shoot-thru umbrella, typically about 3-5 feet away from him. Nothing fancy, but it worked. All of the post processing work was done in Lightroom 2, and as you’ll see below, I played around with several different looks. Which do you like best? Hit us with a comment below and let us know.
Here’s a few more from the session:

Because of the color of his jumper and the fancy print in the couch, I liked the black & white pics with a shallow depth of field the best on these. That being said, he seems to be a very photogenic little guy and you have some really pleasing photos!
