After getting a good handle on the whole breast feeding thing yesterday, miss K let mommy and daddy sleep for most of the night (only 1 ass-plosion and two feedings), and in general seems to be enjoying life.  While mom was feeding Katherine breakfast, I laid out a piece of black velvet I have on the floor of her room and placed a pillow underneath it to pose her on.  Then I just had mommy put her in position and fired away.  She let me get a dozen or so shots off before really complaining that she was cold and wanted to be wrapped up again.

Lighting-wise, this was just one light on a stand high to camera-left with my homemade beauty dish and mommy held a reflector off to camera right (though I’m not sure it added too much to this shot).  A quick black and white treatment in Lightroom and done.  I’m finding that one light has made some very nice pictures, and is a lot simpler to deal with – this is key if you have to break off the session for a quick diaper change…

BTW, I’ve just noticed while writing this that it looks as if Katherine has made an awesome duck shadow puppet!  Is she talented or what?
